“BARNBARNDANCES”

Woodlands Bäckafall seamlessly blends the essence of Swedish Midsummer with the vibrant atmosphere of a Scottish pub. Comprising two well-established duos deeply rooted in the Swedish, Scottish and Irish folk music scenes, the ensemble crafts a unique interpretation of these folk music traditions. Their musical prowess shines through the enchanting sounds of harp, guitar, fiddle, and nyckelharpa, challenging and redefining the boundaries of these rich musical legacies. Songs in Gaelic, French and English are playfully woven together with driving reels, captivating waltzes and mysterious ballads.

The band members Kristina Leesik, Justyna Krzyżanowska, Fredy Samuel Lundh och Hampus Grönberg have studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg, and deepened their knowledge of Celtic music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and University of Limerick. In 2023 they received the Royal Swedish Academy of Music's ensemble scholarship and are planning to release their debut album in 2025. They have been featured on Swedish radio and performed at prestigious folk festivals including Lugo Music Festival, Umefolk, Göteborg Folk Festival and Saltofolk. In July 2023, Woodlands Bäckafall were the backing band for the folk music musical “Gruvfruns Guld” by Hampus Grönberg and Marit Eriksson in Falu Copper Mine. The musical ran for 11 successful shows.
